New-look BMW FB 02 ready for the 2013 season.

Test dates and provisional race calendar announced for 2013.

Munich, February 01, 2013. New season, new dates, new design: in just a few weeks, the participants in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup will begin their extensive training programme, with which BMW offers talented drivers comprehensive and lasting preparation for a career in professional motor racing. The BMW FB02 single-seater racing cars, in which the youngsters will be trained at numerous on-track events at renowned circuits around Europe, are waiting in the pit lanes with a brand new design, ready to be unleashed on the 2013 season.

A number of places are still available on the programme. Between mid-February and the start of March, ten test sessions will provide those interested with the opportunity to prepare for a possible participation in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup. At the “Rookie Tests”, which are held in the run-up to the start of the official training programme, drivers coming from a karting background with no experience of a single-seater racing car are taught the basics of Formula motorsport. More advanced tests are also available for drivers who already have initial experience of single-seater racing, or who have already taken part in a rookie test. More information is available online at www.formula-bmw.com.

The car used at the tests and throughout the training season is the BMW FB02, which has a new look for 2013. Having been predominantly white with dark-blue design elements in recent years, the Formula BMW FB02 will sport a matt-black livery for the 2013 season, which lends to the sporty, dynamic and powerful appearance of the car. On January 19, 2013, BMW and the winner of the 2012 Formula BMW Talent Cup, Marvin Dienst (DE), presented the new-look BMW FB02 at the International Kart Exhibition in Offenbach (DE).

Participants in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup will once again undergo a comprehensive programme of learning, with the emphasis on the practical and theory sides of racing, simulator training and performance coaching. Media courses and technical workshops will also be held. Dirk Adorf (DE) returns as Driving Ambassador for the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup, completing the experienced international team, which consists of BMW works drivers, instructors and coaches. The training programme reaches its climax with the highlight of the season from 14th to 16th September: the “Grand Final”. As well as receiving first-rate training, the winner of the final event, which will once again share the bill with the DTM, can look forward to a very attractive prize: BMW will finance the victor for a complete season in a higher-level racing series.
